Chasity Taylor

During my first outing in Woodruff Park, ATL Chasity came over and joined my conversation with James Gentry, her boyfriend. She allowed me to tell here about my Art as Ministry project and agreed to participate as a subject for a portrait.

She shared their hardships of being homeless, transient, and how some of their valuable items had been stolen, such as phones and other goods. Chasity let me know that she was a recovering addict and was five days away from reaching a one year mark of abstaining from methamphetamines. Next, she let me know she had family in Alabama and that her and James were headed that way to reestablish themselves. Her goal is to attend college and become a counselor for people struggling with drug addiction. I thought it was a beautiful way to stay on the narrow path and give back / be of service to others.

When I asked how she would like to receive the tithe portion of her portrait (50% of the sale price) she told me she was not interested in the money and that she would instead like her tithe to be donated to a local food bank in my neighborhood. She really believed in what I am aiming to do and wanted to contribute to the good of others as well. Truly admirable.

Ministry: 50% of the sale price of this portrait will be donated to the Food Pantry at The Place in Cumming, GA.
